Foods to Avoid During Homeopathic Treatment
Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted, dynamic medicines absorbed primarily through the fine nerve endings in your mouth. To ensure they work at maximum capacity, it is essential to follow a few simple dietary guidelines.
The 20-Minute Clean Palate Rule
Do not eat, drink, smoke, or brush your teeth for 20 minutes before and after taking your medicine. Your mouth should be completely free from strong tastes, aromas, or chemical residues.
Foods and Substances that Can Interfere
While dietary restrictions depend on your specific condition, the following strong-smelling substances can sometimes neutralize or decrease the efficacy of remedies:
- Coffee: High caffeine and strong aromas can antidotal certain remedies. Check with H/Dr Shafiq ur Rehman Arain.
- Raw Onion & Garlic: Very strong volatile oils can interfere with remedy absorption. Cooked versions are generally fine.
- Camphor and Mint: Avoid mint throat lozenges, mint gum, or strong eucalyptus balms close to dosage times.
